I decided to give Eufy a try. And I am glad I did. Setup was similar to that in the Wemo app, but unlike it, the Eufy smart plugs appeared immediate and pairing them to the app was a breeze. In less than 5 minutes per switch I was up and running. The apps interface is clean and it gets the job done. You can control the plug, and even check your power usage, a feature which is really nice to have even if I do not use it all the time. Finally, there is integration with smart platforms. Sadly, there’s no HomeKit integration, but there is Google Home as well as Amazon Alexa integration. Pairing the plugs with my Amazon Echos was an easy process: download the Skill, log into it using your Eufy account credentials, then ask Alexa to search for smart home devices. That’s it. Your new plugs will appear in the Alexa app. HomeKit integration is the one thing this thing is missing to make it perfect.
